Behavior of a police officer in complaints about sexist statements towards a voter or commission member
in the polling station during voting and violation of equality of citizens equality based on race, nationality,
religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics in connection with their voting privileges.
The Criminal Code of Ukraine establishes liability for violating equality of citizens on grounds of race, nationality,
religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics.
Intentional acts of inciting national, racial or religious hatred and enmity or insulting citizens, explicit or implicit
limitation of the rights or establishment of explicit or implicit privileges of citizens on the grounds of race,
gender disability, ethnic and social origin, property status, place of residence and political, religious or other
beliefs is a crime (part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code). Committing these actions is punishable by a fine
of 200 to 500 tax-free monthly minimum incomes – from UAH 3,400 to 8,500 – or restriction of liberty for up
to five years and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and participate in specific activities for up
to three years.
If such acts are combined with violence, deception or threats committed by an official, such offense shall
be punishable by a fine of 500 to 1,000 tax-free monthly minimal incomes – from UAH 8,500 to 17,000 – or
imprisonment for two to five years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and engage in specific
activities for up to three years or more (part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code).
