Dear Colleagues, The police protect every citizen, regardless of their religion or political opinion. The police are apolitical. Our task is to protect constitutional rights and freedoms of the people as well as the right to free and democratic expression during elections of public officials. Holding fair elections contributes to strengthening our state and society and demonstrates that we are a free, democratic and strong country. The role of the police during voting and elections cannot be overestimated. It is the police who must and will respond to all violations of election law. During the presidential election campaign, the National Police ensured fair and democratic elections. We protected the safety of our citizens and the right of everyone to make their choice. This is a high standard we reached, and we now must maintain it during the parliamentary elections. We must be alert, respond to violations, strictly adhere to the law and make every effort to exercise the constitutional right of citizens to elect the leadership of the state in a free, fair and democratic manner.
